EU criminal law
Prof. Dr. Balázs Gellér has again given a lecture at University College Cork (UCC) in Ireland on the topic of European criminal law. UCC is Ireland's top-ranked law school, where Prof. Dr. Balázs Gellér consulted with colleagues and delivered a lecture to upper-year students on the developmental trajectory of European criminal law, its key milestones, and recent developments. Among the latter, he highlighted the directive on sanctions for violating embargo measures (Directive (EU) 2024/1226 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 April 2024 on the definition of criminal offences and penalties for the violation of Union restrictive measures and amending Directive (EU) 2018/1673) and the new environmental directive (Directive (EU) 2024/1203 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 April 2024 on the protection of the environment through criminal law, replacing Directives 2008/99/EC and 2009/123/EC).
